The demand for medical assistants is actually growing rapidly and it is certainly a good job opportunity for those who are interested to work in hospital setting. The Medical Assisting Certificate program at Red Rocks Community College is one of the few programs that allows students to be credentialed by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) Students who enroll in this rigorous program are required to complete 37 semester hours of credit for the certificate program which is accredited by CAAHEP upon recommendation of MAERB and 60 credits for the AAS in which students receive the certificate accredited by CAAHEP and the AAS that is received through Red Rocks Community College.

Clinical duties include taking patient medical histories, assisting the physician during exams, collecting specimens, performing CLIA-waived laboratory tests, administering medications as directed by the physician, performing EKG's, drawing blood, assisting with minor surgery and patient education.

Students in a diploma program acquire the skills necessary for carrying out both front and back office duties, including scheduling and billing patients, preparing patients for treatment and examinations, conducting lab tests and maintaining medical records.

The Medical Assisting Program at Massasoit Community College has an exam passage rate of 85% based on the data from the 2016 graduation cohort, and a 100% Graduate and Employer satisfaction rate for the 2016 admission cohort report submitted to the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB), and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Programs (CAAHEP).

Documentation from a medical provider will be required to work with patients. You would be going for an associate's degree in medical assisting, or you could do an associate's in science to just have a degree along with your certification. A Medical Assistant acts as both an administrator and healthcare professional, performing clinical duties and administrative tasks in medical offices, laboratories, hospitals, and other settings.

Cox College was established in 1907 as a training school for nurses with an initial student body of three. In some health care settings, administrative and clinical duties are both handled by them. Students will be required to complete a 160 hour externship placement, working under a qualified supervisor in a clinical setting.

You may sit for the Electronic Health Records Specialist exam if you are scheduled to earn a high school diploma or GED within the next 12 months. The curriculum provides a broad introduction to the medical assistant profession, preparing graduates for administrative medical office management positions. Diploma graduates are also eligible to continue their education in pursuing the associate degree that includes studies in behavioral and biological sciences and an additional medical assistant internship.
